Google:

  • Google got the final go-ahead from the FCC to participate in the auction of available wireless airwaves.
  • The company is giving marketing students $200 to help local businesses by building AdWords campaigns for them.

Biz Buzz:

  • Online video ad provider Broadband Enterprises secured $10 million in funding from Velocity Interactive Group.
  • The Library of Congress put 1,500 of its photos on Flickr with the dual purpose of increasing exposure, and tapping into the wisdom of crowds to better categorize photos.
  • John Sedlek has moved from AOL's ad sales team to Vibrant Media, where he will head the online sales division as VP.
  • Universal Music Group is working with mobile tech provider SendMe to license its catalog of music as ringtones for members of SendMeMobile.com.

  • Justin.tv is launching a content distribution network to attract video producers and cut costs.
