  • MizPee, a service from Yojo Mobile, allows local businesses to advertise against search results for the nearest public toilet.
  • In-car navigation service TomTom has partnered with Google to allow customers to send Google Maps addresses to their TomTom devices.
  • Gannett says it's made tremendous strides in its efforts to beef up digital options available to advertisers.

Mobile:

  • Nokia is offering buyers of certain phone models free Universal Music song downloads to promote the devices as more than just phones.
  • Wanting to expand beyond its mere designation as a handheld maker, Nokia is also expanding its internet offerings to be more attractive to full-service users.
  • LG announced it has tapped Bartle Bogle Hegarty to handle its creative work across all product divisions. It also selected MindShare to handle its $350 million media account.
  • Microsoft, Google and Yahoo are all looking at mobile ads as a huge source of future revenue but find phone carriers standing in their way, wanting to protect their (sizable) cut of the pie.

Miscellany:

  • Customers on JetBlue's new "BetaBlue" plane will have free access to Yahoo IM and email through WiFi-equipped devices.
  • Those passionate about not getting their children vaccinated are turning to YouTube and other platforms to spread their message.
  • Microsoft has pulled its Windows Live Messenger-based "Santa" chat tool after reports that Santa was bringing up oral sex and other inappropriate topics.
