Internet adoption continues to grow in India, having reached 38.5 million by yearend 2005, according to data from the Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), citing the lower cost of broadband; e-commerce and the demand for .in domain registrations as factors for the increase, reports ClickZ. That growth was substantial - up 54 percent from the 25 million in 2004.
Indians go online for various reasons: email and IM (98 percent); job search (51 percent); banking (32 percent); bill payment (18 percent); stock trading (15 percent); and matrimonial search (15 percent).
Registrations under the ".in" domain surpassed 150,000.
