Consumer e-commerce sales in India are projected to top $550 million by 2006-2007, according to a forecast by the Internet & Online Association of India (IOAI), and annual online consumer purchasing totaled roughly $130 million in 2004-2005, reports eMarketer. India's internet users top 25 million and are expected to grow to 100 million by 2007 according to the IOAI. Its figures for current users fall in the middle of other estimates, which range from roughly 16 million to 37 million. Among the reasons Indians cited for shopping online, "home delivery" was the number-one response.
