Japanese TV: Losing to Wii
TV executives in Japan are complaining that the Nintendo Wii is responsible for a major decline in TV viewing during primetime viewing hours, according to The Times (via Next-Gen).
Last week, every major station failed to snag a 9 percent share of the audience, something that hasn't happened in almost 20 years.
An executive at commercial channel TBS said television isn't used to competing with other types of media and cited what TV is up against. “One is people watching TV on their cell phones where we can’t track them, but the really big factor is the time people are spending on the Wii.”
