Technology marketing" More Web Surfers Go Directly to Sites
The majority of Internet sites worldwide are reached through direct navigation — typing a URL in the address bar or using a bookmark — says a study released today.
Web analytics firm WebSideStory reports that over 64 percent of web users get to sites by direct navigation rather than using search engines or web links, compared to 53 percent a year ago.
New data accentuates the importance of web site branding campaigns, says Geoff Johnston, vp of product marketing for StatMarket, WebSideStory's division that tracks global Internet user trends.
