Blinkx.tv and Ifilm have reached an agreement to include access to online videos from Ifilm on Blinkx's video search engine. IFilm's short films, movie and video game trailers, and television clips will be added to Blinkx's growing database of searchable video content, AdWeek reports. The search engine returns screenshots of the videos and sends users to Ifilm's site to watch ad-supported content. Blinkx's technology takes a different approach from Google's and AOL's. It matches videos to search queries based on transcripts of clips created using speech-recognition technology. Google's beta uses closed-captioning text, and Yahoo and AOL tag videos with description. A poll of web users earlier this yearby the Online Publishers Association found that 53 percent of respondents would watch more video on web if they could locate it easily.
