iCrossing gave its ability to handle paid-search a nice shot in the arm with the acquisition of San Francisco-based Newgate Internet. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Newgate brings several retail-focused clients to iCrossing, along with the ability to run search-ad campaigns for clients, AdWeek reports. "They've established clear leadership in the paid-search area, especially retail," said Jeff Herzog, iCrossing's CEO. iCrossing says the acquisition will double its paid-search business.
Newgate also offers reputation management and word-of-mouth marketing services. The agency will be integrated with iCrossing's San Francisco office.
Don Scales, the agency's president, said it may make more moves in the search marketing sector. "It's safe to say this will not be the last for us," he said. "I think this market is ripe for us to look at ways to bring together capabilities."
