The Internet Corp. for Assigned Names and Numbers has officially rejected ".xxx" as a suffix for adult-only websites, reports Bloomberg. The vote was 9 to 5, and the directors, led by internet pioneer Vinton Cerf, said details would be provided later this week.
ICM Registry, set up to seek approval for the domain, has said pornographers would migrate from .com and .net to .xxx, which would be more tightly regulated. The Family Research Council has countered that pornographers would merely add .xxx to their other domain suffixes.
