IBM Sponsors BoingBoing TV

BoingBoing, a popular blog that covers the new and eccentric, has launched a video show — IBM aboard as the venture's first sponsor, reports ClickZ.

BoingBoing TV will do on video what the site has always done in text: Present news and subject matter that is unique and quirky. Site authors such as Cory Doctorow, Mark Frauenfelder and others will be hosting episodes that, according to a post on the site, just seek to have fun with the same sort of internet minutiae they've always covered.

IBM will sponsor Boing Boing TV under a three month-long deal worked out by Federated Media, the ad network of which BoingBoing is a member. The sponsorship includes host mentions in the show, in-stream video spots, and ads on the main site. Other sponsors are being pursued for further opportunities.

Helping Federated with the ad placement is DECA, a digital entertainment studio founded by former executives of Sony Pictures. DECA is charged with promotion, financing and distribution of the video show, including possible deployment of the content across other, to-be-determined platforms.
