How to Connect LinkedIn and Twitter

Both sites are great for networking, writes Lauren Dugan at Mediabistro’s All Twitter. To connect use a dedicated Twitter application offered by LinkedIn that integrates a Twitter account into the LinkedIn profile. The app allows very fine-grain control over which tweets/LinkedIn statuses are shared, Dugan says.

To join the two accounts, visit "Edit My Profile" and click "Add Twitter account" next to the Twitter field in LinkedIn. Twitter will ask you to verify your account name and password. Once the account is verified, you’ll be asked how you’d like to share your tweets on LinkedIn. In in order to send tweets from Twitter to LinkedIn, the Twitter account must be set as public.

Incidentally, LinkedIn is the most popular social network among business journalists, with 92% having a LinkedIn account, according to the 2011 Arketi Web Watch Media Survey.
