How To: Install +1. Really, this time | Hand off leads to sales

How to Install Google's +1

On Tuesday, June 21 at 3pm ET, Google Developer Advocate Timothy Jordan is hosting a webinar on how to best implement the +1 button. He'll be discussing  technical implementation details as well as best practices to ensure the button has maximum impact. Topics scheduled include getting started, best practices, advanced options, measurement as well as time for a Q&A.

When Google generally released the +1 button at the start of the month, Aaron Peters tested it and wrote about some of the glitches he experienced in its implementation. Read his comments here.

How to Hand Off Sales Leads From Marketing

This question was posed recently on Quora. Superior qualification, a good plan for lead nurturing and strong sales/marketing alignment are good places to start, the questioner noted but wondered what else could make a major impact on the lead hand off given the chaos in today's sales funnel (ie. sellers entering the sale much later than ever before, buyers jumping in at any point, not just at the top). Some of Maria Pergolino, director of Marketing for Marketo, suggestions:

Stay away from list buys. They lead to many names but destroy deliverability - instead drive prospects to your forms using inbound techniques.

Score leads to improve qualification. This helps not only in identifying the right leads, but also prompts the sales reps to focus on them at the right time.

Reverse IP lookup and website monitoring in general. Better to check out leads that are looking at you and your website.
