How to Best Use Google’s Sitelink Update
Earlier this month Google updated the way it presents Sitelinks, making them full-size links with a URL and one line of snippet text. It also increased the maximum number of sitelinks per query from eight to 12. To take advantage of the change, Uri Bar-Joseph at Optify suggests these tactics:
Have a clean top level navigation with descriptive anchor text.
Put descriptive text at the beginning of the meta descriptions. It is more important now, since the blurbs are even shorter.
Remove urls from Google webmaster tools.
Make sure website extensions to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. are optimized and appear on the first SERP.
