Vertical search engines are proliferating, taking advantage of the heated search engine marketing markets as well as an increased interest in ad targeting among advertisers. An E-Commerce Times report adds that the vertical markets are easier to command than the general search markets already so dominated by the big three competitors Google, Yahoo and MSN. LookSmart recently said it launched several "vertical search sites," which look a bit more like demo targeted content sites. New vertical search companies Answers.com and Oodle.com have gained attention as well.
