In a snarky article, the New York Times writes that there is hope for the newspapers industry after all (via MediaBuyerPlanner). Despite the recent slides in newspaper readership, at least one person has begun reading newspapers: President Bush.
After having said in 2003 that he didn't read newspapers, instead relying for the latest news on "objective sources" such as people on his staff, he said in a news conference last week that he had read the newspaper that very day.
Bush noted having seen an article on Vice-President Cheney's agreement to testify on the C.I.A. leak case - and termed it "an interesting piece of news."
Laura Bush said last week that she and her husband read the morning newspaper with their coffee every morning, and have done so since they were married.
