Holiday E-Commerce Up 23 Percent So Far

Non-travel e-commerce spending in the first 39 days of the holiday season (through December 9) totaled $12.75 billion, up 23 percent from the $10.38 billion for the same period in 2004, reports DM News, citing figures by comScore, which expects consumer spending on non-travel e-commerce to surpass $19 billion for November and December, or 24 percent growth from last year. That estimate compares with Forrester Research's forecast of $18 billion for the 2005 holidays.

About 6.6 million iPod-related web searches were conducted in November, according to a comScore, which tracked U.S. home, work and university online users.

The keywords "Xbox 360" attracted 5 million searches (more than triple those for Sony's PlayStation's 1.9 million), "Harry Potter" accounted for 4.8 million searches, "Star Wars" 2.5 million, and "Barbie" 2.1 million.
