'Hillary 1984' Video on YouTube; Obama Didn't Do It

A pro-Obama political video mocking Hillary Clinton on YouTube is, some experts say, a landmark moment for citizens media; and, no, it wasn't created by Barack Obama's campaign. The video, dubbed Hillary 1984, plays off Apple's 1984 spot for the Macintosh that aired in the same year, SFGate.com reports. It shows the same female athlete smashing a large screen showing an image of Hillary Clinton, and ends with an O logo and the address for Barack Obama's website.

Though the video at first seems merely a jab at Clinton, some believe it'sĀ also sending the message that broadcast media is dying, giving way to citizen marketers that have the power to create more compelling content.

Veteran San Francisco ad man Bob Gardner says Obama's reaction to the spot was probably to ask his consultants, "Why couldn't you guys come up with something as brilliant?"
