Helio, Buzzd Launch Location-Based Nightlife Search

Helio's Ocean handset
"knows" where the party is

Helio, a mobile virtual network geared to Gen Y, has launched a bar and restaurant mobile search site with partner Buzzd.

Buzzd powers mobile sites for local events and entertainment services for clients like TimeOut New York, IAC's CitySearch and Flavorpill, reports CNET's The Social.

The ad-supported service will pull data from Buzzd clients. It will also include "event feeds" for pricing, details for a specific night, and short user reviews that appear in real-time.

GPS will be integrated into the software so it will automatically "know" where party-goers are.

Location-based services on mobile phones are becoming more popular among carriers. Nielsen found that 50 percent of mobile app revenue came from such services.
