Hearst, MySpace Partner for (Yet Another) Online Series

MySpace and Hearst are partnering on a new Web-only reality show targeting first year college students, reports Mediaweek.

The new reality show, Freshman 15, will follow 15 girls in the first year of college as they tackle the troubles of adjusting to their new lives. Each girl will have a MySpace profile where she will blog, share photos and more to bring the viewer along with them.

The deal with MySpace is the latest in a series of moves by Hearst to increase its draw amongst young females. The site has made a number of online and wireless moves to strengthen its readership in that area.

As the popularity of web dramas exploded with LonelyGirl15, MySpace has secured its footing as host of a number of new series. The social networking site will also distribute Quarterlife, a web drama about web-savvy but otherwise perplexed twenty-somethings.
