Hearst and MSN have partnered to penetrate the crowded online food space with Delish.com, reports MediaBuyerPlanner. A launch date was not announced.
The site will offer recipes, food-related articles, photos and videos. MSN agreed to manage ad sales for Delish.com, CountryLiving.com, GoodHousekeeping.com, QuickandSimple.com and Redbookmag.com.
Of the top 10 food and cooking sites, only two — Allrecipes.com from Reader’s Digest and Epicurious from Conde Nast — come from traditional publishing houses. Topping the 10 best sites is Food.com, the Food Network's online destination. Hearst plans to partner with Food Network on an upcoming food magazine.
Given MSN's reach, Delish.com is expected to become a top 10 food site in its first few weeks.
MSN recently replaced Expedia with Orbitz as its preferred portal travel agency. The act will supposedly change fortunes in the online travel planning sector: Orbitz speculates that 3.5 million visitors will be added to its monthly traffic count from the liaison alone.
