Hearst-Argyle Television has signed a distribution deal to put local TV content on YouTube, reports Forbes.
Under the terms of the relationship, stations in Boston, Manchester, Sacramento, Pittsburgh and Baltimore will be able to upload clips from their broadcasts to their own YouTube channels. News, entertainment, weather and other clips, including high school sports, will all be represented on these sites.
The deal allows Hearst-Argyle to both distribute and monetize online viewing of those clips by sharing ad revenue with Google, YouTube's parent company.
