Yahoo's video search
Yahoo is developing a search engine for finding music info and downloads on the web, and plans to introduce it within two months, CNET reports. The news comes as Yahoo announced the official launch of its video search engine this week. The music engine will apparently draw on Yahoo's search-marketing service to place ads in music search results.
Yahoo is developing media and online communities to attract visitors but is also using its media search engines to connect with surfers outside the Yahoo network in an effort to expand its multibillion-dollar search-advertising business. Some 24.5 million people visited Yahoo Music in March, according to comScore.
Yahoo has invested heavily on music services and considers audio and video vital for the company's future. It bought song outlet MusicMatch for $160 million and is working on another music service together with rival MusicNet.
