Email accreditation provider Habeas has launched a new email reputation database, SenderIndex, which will make use of the data and ISP relationships that Habeas has developed via its SafeList whitelist, reports ClickZ. SenderIndex uses data shared by the ISPs that use SafeList to monitor a sender's reputation. It assigns senders to one of three lists, which Habeas provides to ISPs or filtering providers to use in filtering: those on its SafeList, Accept List, Block List and Grey List.
ISPs use accreditation and reputation services to assess the sending practices of commercial emailers, and helping to determine whether a message reaches the recipient's inbox. Accreditation refers more to a sender's best practices, infrastructure and stated policies; reputation is based on actual sending practices over time, including unsubscribe compliance, complaint and bounce rates, and adherence to stated policies.
