Google's Share of April Searches 55%, YOY Growth 42%

An estimated 3.8 billion search queries were conducted at Google search, accounting for 55 percent of all search queries conducted in April, according to Nielsen/NetRatings April 2007 data for the top U.S. search providers, reports MarketingCharts.

The top three search providers, ranked by total searches, were Google, Yahoo and MSN/Windows Live Search, with 55 percent, 22 percent and 9 percent of searches, respectively, according to the data. Searches refer to the total number of queries conducted at the provider.

Google also registered the most growth year over year, with the number of searches conducted at Google increasing 42 percent from April 2006. Yahoo's YOY growth was 28 percent, and searches at MSN/Windows Live Search increased more than 7 percent, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

AOL and Ask.com, with 5 percent and 2 percent of April searches, respectively, rounded out the list of top 5 search providers.
