A commissioner with the Federal Trade Commission said antitrust issues will trump privacy concerns in approving Google's DoubleClick acquistion, reports Advertising Age.
Commissioner Jon Leibowitz said issues of privacy will need to be considered in a separate manner than the FTC's review of the purchase.
Leibowitz made his comments at a public forum on privacy and online advertising.
Privacy has been the chief concern of consumer advocacy groups who worry online users will have their behavior unreasonably tracked in order to serve targeted ads.
Conventional wisdom, the story says, now has it the FTC will approve the acquisition, but perhaps attach conditions to its approval.
