GoogleClick Deal Likely to See FTC Approval

Antitrust experts expect the FTC to give its approval to Google's purchase of DoubleClick, reports Reuters.

Experts largely point to the combination of plenty of advertising options available, and a White House administration that has not challenged many acquisitions.
The FTC's approval would be a major blow to Yahoo and Microsoft, which lobbied vigorously against the purchase. Adding DoubleClick's services would instantaneously put Google in the online display ad business.

Even if the FTC did give its blessing, the purchase must still be approved by regulators in the European Union. EU officials are expected to make a statement on October 26th. At that point it could approve the deal, ask for more time or say it's launching a full-on investigation that would push a decision to 2008.
