Google Toolbar Now for Firefox, Too

Google is expected to release tomorrow a version of its toolbar for the Firefox browser, according to information sent to developers of an open-source toolbar alternative, reports ZDNet. Google's toolbar provides easy access to spellchecking and translation and has been available for Internet Explorer for more than four years. Users of open-source browsers have instead used the Googlebar - an independent effort emulating Google's toolbar. An email to Googlebar developers sent by Google engineer Fritz Schneider and dated 1 July announces the proposed Firefox toolbar. "It has pretty much the same features as the latest IE toolbar except of course for things like the popup blocker," the email reads. Pop-up blocking is an in-built feature of Firefox.
