Following a long-running trademark dispute, Google has dropped Gmail as the name of its email service in the U.K. and rebranded it Google Mail, with all new accounts to have addresses, reports NetImperative. Google gave in to the demands of London-based Independent International Investment Research (IIIR), which says it owns the trademark. In a statement, the firm said it now hopes that Google will agree to pay a settlement for damages. However, Google said it was still working with the courts and trademark office.
