AP: Google Has Stake in Chinese Search Engine

Leading Chinese search firm Baidu.com announced that Google took a non-controlling stake in the company. The Chinese government has made it next to impossible for many web firms to do business in the country without first acquiring a local partner. Analysts just last month were criticizing Google's chances for growth in Asia, as it lacked the relationships older players such as Yahoo had garnered over the years.
