Bloomberg: Google Buys an Online Photo Manager
Google bought personal photo management company Picasa, a firm that developed a Windows-only interface for people to manage their personal digital photos, allowing them to publish them to the web and easily search among them. Picasa had been previously funded and controlled by Internet incubator Idealab. A spokesman said "a majority" of the company's employees will join Google.
This past May, Picasa entered into a partnership with Google-owned Blogger to help the blog interface division handle photo publishing better.
