Google Patents Point to Attempt to Open up Paid Print

ClickZ points to a few Google patents as evidence that the search giant may try to open up the world of paid subscription print as a means to monetize its Google News site. One patent application in particular deals with a licensing system whereby Google could allow people to search copyrighted works, and publishers could have digitized versions of its pages modified so as to have the ads switched out to Google-targeted ones.
