Google has launched a do-it-yourself webpage tool - Google Page Creator - allowing novices (persons and small businesses) with little knowledge of HTML to create a web presence, reports PC Pro. The service (in beta) requires that a user have a Gmail account before being able to log in and provides a template and background styles as well as tools to include links, images, three types of headings and six fonts.
Google also offers hosting (allowing 100MB of storage) for the pages, which when published become available at [yourdomain].googlepages.com.
At least one Google watcher points out that the launch provides a golden opportunity for the creation of spam pages and may help phishers look "somewhat legit" because "googlepages" will appear in the domain name.
