Google Joins Overture in Online Pharmacy Controls

Washington Post: Google to Limit Some Drug Ads, Web Giants Asked to Help Discourage Illicit Online Pharmacies

Well, looks like you'll have to wait for the next spam to arrive in your mailbox, if you are looking to buy discount drugs from an online vendor. Google has joined Overture in implementing a validation and third party screening process for online pharmacies. Obviously the big drug keywords being bid on by online pharmacies were for drugs that have medical and recreational value (including Viagra and Cialis), as well as those that might truly concern regulators, such as Valium and Xanax. In any case, it is interesting to see the search community self-regulating in this area.
