Google Intros Free Site Submission for Search

Google today launched a new service for publishers to automatically submit web pages to Google, NetImperative reports. Google Sitemaps is free and will provide the search giant with more information about web content, which it then can use to improve search results. Google said webmasters can provide information about all their existing web pages, prioritize the pages they want crawled first, and tell Google when pages are updated so that it can index new content faster. Google said Sitemaps would not replace the crawl technology it uses to seek out web content and also said it does not guarantee that a site would be included in its index - nor would the new service effect how sites are ranked in search results.
