Google dominates the search engine market in the U.K., in February referring 74.67 percent of all U.K. visitors to other sites on the web, compared with 9.3 percent for Yahoo, its nearest competitor, according to WebSideStory, writes Internet Retailer. Google's U.K. market share exceeded its February U.S. share (55.39 percent) and global average (62.4 percent).
"This has large implications for U.K. marketers, whose search engine marketing and optimization strategies should be Google-centric," aid Rand Schulman, WebSideStory chief marketing officer.
Also in the top five were MSN (5.46 percent), AOL (4.21 percent) and Ask (2.28 percent).
