Google is again poking the Microsoft dog with its web-based office productivity stick, launching a new online product that combines its online word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
Google Docs & Spreadsheets, in beta, was launched Wednesday and lets users create, manage and share text documents and spreadsheets online, allowing real-time online collaboration, reports CNET. The program uses several file formats for importing and exporting, as well as publishing documents and spreadsheets on a website or blog.
Google claims it doesn't intend to challenge Microsoft in desktop productivity suites, saying its new products lack advanced features. Google acquired the online word-processing app Writely in March and launched Google Spreadsheets in June.
