Google has temporarily shut down Google Analytics (formerly, Urchin)to new users because it has been unable to keep up with customer demand since it began to offer the service for free last week, reports PC World (via MediaBuyerPlanner). Google Analytics hopefuls are asked to supply their names and email addresses so that they can be notified once Google begins accepting new accounts again, which it hopes to do "very shortly," according to a Google spokesperson.
Demand for Google Analytics has been higher than expected and caused availability problems last week. The service was restored and fully available by last Wednesday, but by Friday Google had decided to stop accepting new subscribers because of excessive demand.
