It ain't much, but it's home
Google has created a program that benefits charitable organizations through Google Earth, reports The Boston Globe.
The Google Earth Outreach Program enables organizations to collect donations and achieve other goals, such as volunteer recruitment. It also unites other efforts the search engine giant previously implemented under a more formal banner.
Google hopes the new program will make more charities aware of the tools already available to them, thereby increasing usage.
The US Holocaust Memorial Museum, an early adopter in the effort, is using the Google Earth tools to bring attention to the genocide and other atrocities occurring in Darfur.
