The Google Phone: currently at
the mercy of imagination
A select few got a peek at another trick up the digital sleeve of everyone's favorite search engine: the Google Phone.
Though it is still in development, those who have seen it describe it as similar to Apple's iPhone, with less flash. Instead of a touchscreen keyboard, for example, the Google Phone sports a qwerty keypad, according to the Boston Globe.
And while Google is pouring "hundreds of millions" into the mobile market, it will likely rely on someone else to build the phone and instead focus on serving ads and software.
That Google bringing its ads to the mobile device could mean less expensive phone plans for consumers. This is because carriers will presumably get a piece of the ad revenue.
