A lawsuit has been filed against Google by a man claiming to have been offended by the content he found through a search, reports Computing.
In his lawsuit, UK resident Brian Retkin says Google led him to what he believes were offensive comments about his company. The comments in question were made anonymously, which Retkin says makes suing Google his only recourse.
The online critiques accuse his business of acting fraudulently. While Google has removed the links in question, Retkin says they continue to pop up at new addresses. He says that makes Google ultimately responsible for the content.
A ruling in Retkin's favor means Google would potentially be responsible for the content on every page on the Internet, which covers roughly 11.5 billion pages.
