Google Share of U.S. Searches Surpasses 47%

Google sites captured 47.4 percent of the U.S. searches in December, gaining 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, reported comScore Networks. Yahoo sites grew 0.3 percentage points, maintaining second place ranking with 28.5 percent of U.S. searches.

Microsoft sites, in third place, accounted for 10.5 percent of U.S. searches, down half of a percentage point; the Ask network's share was 5.4 percent; and Time Warner network's was 4.9 percent, according to comScore.

Some 6.7 billion searches were conducted online in the U.S. during December, up 1 percent from November - and 30 person more than in December 2005.

Google sites led with 3.2 billion search queries performed, followed by Yahoo sites (1.9 billion), MSN-Microsoft (713 million), Ask network (363 million), and Time Warner network (335 million).
