In a contract valued at $2 million, Google has sold some of its servers to US intelligence agencies, which will use them to search documents and share information, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Google's government sales team previously sold servers to the US Coast Guard, the NHTSA, the state of Alabama, and Washington, DC. Intelligence agencies also used Google products to create Intellipedia, an internal wiki. 37,000 users have created 35,000 articles, totaling 200,000 pages, so far.

Many of the freshly-sold contracts are for servers intended to store and search internal documents.

Agencies also have access to products like Google Earth, which may be used to plot scientific data and chart the US coastline, a useful navigation tool for ships.
