Google Reaches Partial Agreement with Belgian Newspaper House

Users trawling Google News will again see links coming from a group of Belgian newspapers that sued Google over a copyright dispute, reports The Financial Times.

On Thursday Google reached a partial agreement with Copiepresse permitting the search giant direct access to news from Le Soir and La Libre Belgique, among other publications.

Google will be permitted to show excerpts from the newspapers, but it will not be allowed to show "cached" links. Copiepresse argues this feature gives users free access to stored material.

Google plans to appeal this restriction.
