Google-Powered Phones to Arrive in Mid-'08

Powered by Google

The ever-talked-about "Google Phone" is reportedly slated to drop into the marketplace in mid-2008.

Keep in mind, Google isn't hard at work building the next iPhone, it's instead building a software infrastructure to power handsets.

The Google-powered phone is expected to meld several of its applications including Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail, according to Reuters.

Like its grand plans for the internet, Google plans to keep the phone's software open, so independent developers can better serve any additional features that need adding.

The search giant is prepping for its grand entrance into the mobile market in a number of ways. Check "Related Stories" for its many mobile moves.
