Google to Partner with 'Pop Idol' Creator on Global TV Concept

Coming soon: 'Idol Universe?'

Google is in talks with Simon Fuller, the man behind the UK version of American Idol, about a joint venture that will allegedly change the way TV is watched.

Though details are scarce, Fuller told the Guardian that it's "a big idea on a a global scale [that will change TV,] much the way iTunes changed the way music is disseminated."

Watching TV online is getting more and more popular in Britain, spurned on by free, ad-supported content through online offerings like BBC's iPlayer. Brits typically pay fees for TV service in exchange for ad-free content.
