Google's move to make its blog search engine more accessible has begun to pay dividends, as the search engine has moved ahead of competitor Technorati in terms of traffic.
In October Google added a link to its blog search on the front page of Google News, and that change has resulted in a surge in traffic that has pushed Google's offering ahead of blog search engine Technorati in terms of traffic, eMarketer reports. Some 60 percent of Google Blog Search traffic now comes directly from Google News, according to Hitwise.
Technorati established itself as the early favorite among bloggers by adding tools such as a blog reader and personalization features such as letting visitors see how their favorite blogs rank according to number of blog links and allowing users to rank their favorite blogs.
But over the past year complaints over constant delays in updates to Technorati's blog rankings, among other problems, have dampened the site's popularity.
