Google Becomes 'de jure' Search Engine for Opera Mobile Browsers

Google has become the default search engine for Opera mobile web browsers, which include Opera Mobile and Opera Mini.

Opera, Opera Mini users view some 1.7 billion pages per month, most of which comes from search in its browser, says Opera.

Opera's mobile browser also has marketing merit, having recently been upgraded to include zoom, panning and flash support. Use of such features were once the sole privilege of iPhone users.

Opera Mobile has been shipped on over 100 million handsets so far. Some 35 million people use Opera Mini.

For seven years, Google been the default search option for Opera's desktop browser.
