Google Adds Miniscule Privacy Link to its Homepage

Can you see it?

Following Ask.com's moral example, Google has added a privacy link to its search site.

The company made the announcement in a wordy blog post explaining why Google cannot have more than 28 words on its homepage. Screen shots of the Privacy link were also included.

The new link brings viewers to an updated privacy center, headed "At Google, we're committed to transparency and choice."

On June 19, and amidst growing concerns about how ISPs use customer data for ad targeting, Ask.com added a privacy link to its homepage. It promoted the act in an open letter to the California Attorney General, which was also published on its blog.

"It's simply the right thing to do for the information and awareness of our users," Ask had written. "We strongly encourage others in the search marketplace and online industry to do the same."
