Google Health has added a feature that enables users to upload scanned paper documents to their profiles for storage and easy sharing.
Among other records, the Google Blog notes that "[one] of the most important documents you may want to store and share in Google Health is an 'advance directive'," — a document that enables you to detail your end-of-life wishes for family members or medical experts in the event you are unable to communicate them near death.
Google Health is also working in tandem with Caring Connections, an advance directive provider, that lets users download such forms for free in all 50 states.
"We hope someday we'll move beyond paper, but until then Google Health can help you store your paper medical records electronically, including an advance directive, in one safe place," the Google Blog concluded.
In April, Google announced a partnership with CVS Pharmacy to provide patients with online access to their prescription drug history via Google Health. Google Health itself launched in May 2008.
