SearchEngineLowdown: Fagoogle Offers Gay Search Engine
Seemingly violating the trademarks of both Google and Microsoft's MSN simultaneously, a concern calling itself Fagoogle launched a meta search site for gays and lesbians. For its part, Google said it was fine with Fagoogle's launch - at least according to a Fagoogle release - a precedent that may make Google's going tough in some of its trademark cases against such firms as, for instance, Booble.com.
[Update: Google has asked Fagoogle to stop violating its intellectual property…
In a statement, Fagoogle revealed that the approval it got from Google was implicit, predicated on their own judgment that they were obeying Google's stated terms and conditions. After Google asked the site to stop, Fagoogle dramatically placed a graphic across the homepage reading "Banned by Google."
Said the new Fagoogle release, "From our point of view, this was a glint of madness behind the eyes of Google."
The site notes it did make $3.91 on AdSense clicks, which will be donated to charity.]
